Changes to Deposits & Filing Fees
June 9, 2025
Effective July 1, 2025, the Deposits & Fees associated with the filing of documents in Hancock County Common Pleas Court will be increasing. These Deposits & Fees have not been changed in any significant ways since approximately 2017. A copy of the new Deposits & Fees chart is attached and should be available soon on the webpages of the Court and the Clerk of Courts. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Clerk of Courts.
Additionally, the Court will be making changes to some of the "special fund" fees/costs that are assessed to most filings. No significant changes have been made to these fees/costs since approximately 2014. The Court is also going to modify the way the fees/costs are assessed. Currently, there are several fees/costs that are assessed multiple times in varying amounts as each was added at different times. Multiples of the same type of fees/costs will be consolidated into one assessment.
Change to E-Filing
Effective January 1, 2026, the Clerk of Courts will no longer accept paper filings from attorneys for any filings that have been approved by the Clerk of Courts for e-filing. All filings from attorneys will be done by way of the e-filing system. The Clerk of Courts will still accept paper filings from pro se individuals, however will not accept them from attorneys. Many attorneys have been using the e-filing for several years now. The requirement of all filings being completed electronically will help to streamline the processes in the Clerk's office, will make filings available to you online more quickly, and save time and resources.
We wanted to make everyone aware of this particular change as soon as possible so that everyone has plenty of time to prepare.
If you have any questions, please do not hestitate to contact us.
